"How can I know God’s will for my life?" Knowing God’s will for our lives is important because God tells us all over the place in the Bible that good things will happen when we follow His will and bad things will result from going against His will. You’ve probably said, something like: "I just wish God would give me a sign - just tell me what he wants me to do." I’ve said that before myself. But guess what? God already does tell us what He wants us to do. It’s as simple as ABC... A nswers to prayerB ibleC onscienceC. ...the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, Romans 2:15 God gave each of us a conscience. It’s that little voice in the back of your mind that warns you when you are about to do something that isn’t God’s will. It also nags at you when you are not doing something that you know God does want you to do - like get out of bed and head to worship on Sunday. Our problem is that we get real good at tuning out that little voice. B. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2 How does God work to transform you by renewing your mind? Through His Word - the Bible. What you put in your mind comes out in your life. The more you put God’s word in your mind, the less you will find yourself asking "What do you want me to do, God?" If you are into God’s Word daily, you will know. A. Then they prayed, "Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen [25] to take over this apostolic ministry, Acts 1:24-25 Sometimes you may have two choices that are neither expressly forbidden nor commanded by God. Such was the case with finding a replacement for Judas. So, the other apostles prayed and asked God to reveal his will. He did. God wants you to know His will. He will answer prayers asking Him to show you. Our problem isn’t that God doesn’t show us. Our problem is that he often shows us something other than what we wanted to see. So when you pray for God to show you his will, also ask Him to open your eyes to see what He is showing you. Then ask Him to give you the faith to accept His will when it isn’t exactly what you wanted. Thanks for Asking! |
